Up To Rawdon
This website supplements Up To Rawdon, a book in two parts, which was the result of research into the early history of Rawdon Township, Lower Canada (Quebec - former county names Leinster, L’Assomption and Montcalm) where the author’s ancestors settled between 1824 and 1832. It includes most of the original Protestant settlers and many of the Irish-Catholic families; over 250 families are featured. The web site contains free research files available only on this site — census transcriptions from 1825 and 1831, militia rolls from Rawdon and Kildare, Kildare church records, correspondence concerning the first Rawdon school, early letters about missionary J. E. Burton. The website is updated monthly with newly found material and photos from the author and readers.
