Ordnance Survey Home Page
National Mapping Agency of Great Britain. In today’s ever-changing world, Ordnance Survey’s Historical Mapping reveals the history of every town and village throughout the country, giving a snapshot through time. Ordnance Survey holds an extensive archive of Historical Mapping, dating from the early nineteenth century and offers a full range of scales, from Victorian Town Plans at 1:500, 1:528 and 1:1056 (Some Town Plans even show the divisions in buildings and the names on church pews). Large scale maps at 1:1250, 1:2500, 1:10560 and 1:10 000. Small Scale Maps at 1:25 000, 1:50 000 and the very popular 1 Series. From this archive, individual black and white copies can be produced on high-quality chart paper that is ideal for framing, or film, depending on what you require.
