In some of these, nearly every family was engaged in some aspect of railroading, or in supplying the families who were. The Railroad Genealogical Society arose from the efforts of a small group of genealogists to cooperatively locate and share information on men who worked for the Missouri-Kansas-Texas RR. The mission of the RRGS is to locate and preserve in usable form whatever records still exist and to make them available to genealogists everywhere.
