Svenskt Biografiskt Lexikon (SBL) / Dictionary of Swedish National Biography
The Dictionary of Swedish National Biography is a biographical dictionary that was first published in 1917. This dictionary is a general list, based on first-hand sources, of significant people and their achievements at various stages in the development of Swedish society. The Dictionary of Swedish National Biography is part of Riksarkivet, the National Archives of Sweden, and its publication is financed by Government funding. 33 volumes have been published up to 2013. Each volume comprises 800 pages, and to date more than 9 000 family and individual biographies have been published, spanning some 25 000 pages and so making the Dictionary of Swedish National Biography one of the biggest reference works in the Nordic countries.
The Knowles Collection
The Knowles Collection is group of records on the FamilySearch Community Trees Website. This database originally contained the records of a small section of the Jewish people of the British Isles. That set included less than 10,000 people. What was once a single database, has now grown to be six individual databases that now contain the genealogical records of almost 1.2 million Jewish people: The Jews of the British Isles; The Jews of North America; The Jews of Europe; The Jews of South America and the Caribbean; The Jews of Africa, The Orient and the Middle East; The Jews of the South Pacific.
This web site is extract from the databas Kråken 11, which is a database covering the area from Örnsköldsvik up to Skellefteå in northern Sweden (a large part of northern Sweden). Databas Kråken 11 contain 252.000 different persons and about 58.000 families. In the "Personregister" You will find more than 200.000 persons listed as an extract från the database. The web site is upgraded almost every week and new information is then added. Everything on the web site is free.
