Genealogical Institute on Federal Records (Gen-Fed)
Gen-Fed, formerly The National Institute on Genealogical Research (NIGR), is held each summer at the National Archives in Washington, D.C., and College Park, Maryland, and is an intensive program offering on-site examination of federal records. Designed for experienced researchers, it is not an introduction to genealogy.

ASG Scholar Award | American Society of Genealogists
Established in 1996, the ASG Scholar Award is an annual grant of $1000 awarded for study at one of five major academic genealogical programs in the United States. Candidacy for the award is open to all genealogists, genealogical librarians, and researchers working in related fields. Applicants submit a published work or a manuscript of work in progress, to be judged by a panel of three Fellows. The goal of the award is to recognize talent and build genealogical expertise by providing promising genealogists the opportunity to receive advanced academic training in genealogy.

Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh
GRIP is a week-long hands-on institute with six or seven courses to choose in each of two summer weeks, fourth week of June or third week of July in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Set on a lovely college campus, GRIP is the only institute that offers dorm housing which keeps costs for attending very low. Institute of Genealogy & Historical Research (IGHR)
The Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR) provides an educational forum for the discovery, critical evaluation, and use of genealogical sources and methodology through a week of intensive study led by nationally renowned genealogical educators. Students choose one course that lasts throughout the week. Topics range from a course for beginners to a variety of courses on specialized topics. IGHR is hosted by the Georgia Genealogical Society (beginning 2017) with courses and accommodations taking place at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel on the University of Georgia campus in historic Athens, Georgia. Begun in 1962 at Howard College (now Samford University) in Homewood, Alabama, this academically and professionally oriented institute is one of the oldest and most prominent genealogical institutes in the nation and regularly enrolls over 200 students from around the country.
