Cyndi's List is maintained from my home in Edgewood, Washington. It is not run by a large company, or by a large staff of people. In the beginning there was only one person keeping track of all these links and keeping the site current - just me. From 1996 through 1999 I was the only person who worked on the list, although I did receive a lot of helpful feedback and support from others. In November 1999 my sister-in-law, Michele, joined me and serves as the Link Maintenance Specialist for Cyndi's List. She updates and fixes broken links that are reported by users to the site. Michele also runs link checking software on each page on the site and corrects broken links found by that software. In addition, she helps me with the backlog of newly submitted links.
From the time I first created Cyndi's List, my husband, Mark, helped me tremendously. He helped by sending me new URLs, proofreading things, acting as a sounding-board for my ideas and by keeping an eye on the web site statistics for me. From April 2000 to August 2006 he also worked directly on the web site, categorizing links. In addition to his "real" daytime job, he worked several evenings and many weekends on Cyndi's List.
Over the last few years, I have had friends (Sam Behling and Jen Godwin, among others) help me with special projects and the backlog of submitted links. A programmer from Sierra Online, previously the sponsor of my site, helped me create the automated scripts that run various forms on the site (i.e. "Submit a New Link," etc.). For several years the site was hosted at RootsWeb. The kind folks at RootsWeb kept the server's hardware in fine running order so that you could access the web site any time day or night.
Other than that, I am the sole owner of Cyndi's List. I am not a big company or a business. I am not a "Dear Ladies & Gentleman" or a "To Whom It May Concern". "Dear Cyndi" would be just great!
