The purpose of the CUSHMAN Genealogy Site is to connect living Cushmans with their male ancestry. The lineage from Robert CUSHMAN of Kent is complete down through people born circa 1850. So, if living Cushmans know their dad's name, their CUSHMAN grandfather's name, and perhaps their CUSHMAN great grandfather's name, they should be able to connect to someone in the data base. This will give them their whole line back to Robert CUSHMAN, born 1577.Of course, they must verify and document the lineage independently, as most of the information in the database has come from secondary sources.Other CUSHMAN lines are also included in the database, including Cushmans from Canada and England.

Family oral history tells us the family came to America from the Ulster Province of Ireland and prior to that time, they were in Scotland. The earliest sources found thus far include legal records and transactions attributed to a small town lawyer in Maryville, Tennessee in the year 1806. His name was Thomas Henderson.
