About the author: I have been engaged in genealogical and family history research since 1992. I have in-depth research experience in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and the American Civil War. I have taken numerous genealogy classes, as well as attending genealogy conferences. I hold memberships in DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), the National Genealogical Society, the Illinois State Genealogical Society, and the McLean County Genealogical Society, where I attend local meetings.
