A genealogy website taking you direct to all the UK Council Archives & Records Websites useful for family history and local research. Includes England, Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland, Channel Isles and Isle of Man.
A2A aims to create a virtual national archives catalogue, bringing together a critical mass of information about the rich national archival heritage and making that information available globally from one source via the World Wide Web. The historical records to be covered by A2A are of national, regional and local importance and date from periods between the twelfth and twentieth centuries. They are held in geographically dispersed archives offices in England, and many have been comparatively under-recognised in the past.
More than 8,500,000 documents from Medieval and Early Modern England (1201-1879) from the National Archives in London digitized and displayed through The O'Quinn Law Library of the University of Houston Law Center by license of the National Archives sponsored by the University of Houston Law Center and by the University of Houston Department of History.
Pensions and Gratuities records, Appointment records and Establishment books are the prime sources for family history research at our archives. The BPMA holds many other useful sources which can help paint a fuller picture of your ancestor's life.
