Located in Danville, Illinois, the I.G.H.S. is the oldest genealogy society in Illinois. The library covers all of Vermilion county, Illinois and has numerous resources for all other states as well. The obituary books are a little known treasure. IGHS was organized in order to collect, catalog and maintain genealogical records and historical materials pertaining to the central Illiana area. Repository of all Vermilion County, Illinois, probate files from c1829-1970.
