      For the discussion and sharing of information regarding surnames and given names from the Baltic area. Archives: browse or search.
    • BALT-L Mailing List 
      Online forum devoted to communications to and about the Baltic Republics of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Subscription to this list is welcomed from anyone with skills or interests relevant to the Baltics, or who just wants to know what's going on.     • EXULANTEN Mailing List 
      Exulanten is the name given to the Protestants that were forced out Austria (estimated as many as100,000) during 16th to 18th century. The largest wave of about 22,000 left the Salzburg area in1731/32.       A group for collecting and sharing information concerning Vistytis, Lithuania and all those individuals and families who have their origins there or for those who have an interest in the town. Before WWI Vistytis was in the powiat (district) of Wolkowyszk in the gubernia (province) of Suwalk in the Russian Empire. In Russian it was known as Wysztynce, in Polish it was known as Wysztyniec and by the Prussians as Wystiten. In Yiddish (the language of the Jewish people in Eastern Europe) it was known as Vishtinetz. Any discussion about Vistytis is welcome, about visiting or living there, its history or the genealogy of those who were born or lived there.
