FRF Genealogy and Family History
This is the blog of F. Richard FOLKERTH, aka FRF. My immigrant FOLKERTH ancestor, Christopher FOLKERTH, arrived in Philadelphia in 1754, lived for years in Chester County, Pennsylvania before moving to Maryland; his descendants mostly lived in the Miami Valley of Ohio for a couple generations before spreading out. My Jefferis branch was in Pennsylvania even earlier, in the late 1600s. My other families show a similar trail; moving West mostly above the Ohio River. We have some records of my family lines back in Europe for the FOLKERTH family, where the name appears as VOLCKERT(H), as well as European records for some others … such as the ENGLE branch.
Surnames in the family include:
CHANDLER, CHENOWETH, CRISE,
DARLINGTON, EMS, ENGLE, FEIRSTINE, FOLKERTH, FULKER, FULKERTH, HALL, HARRIS, ILLIG,
JEFFERIS, LEWTON, POTTER, RAFESNIDER, RING, THOMAS, TIPPUS,
VOLCKERTH & WILCOXSON
with connections to REYNOLDS, RENNER, YINGLING, EVERSOLE and others. Spelling variants frequently are found among these families and we accept any reasonable variation since spelling only recently 'tended' to be standardized.
The blog includes genealogy information not to be found anywhere else; transcriptions of several family bibles for instance, plus plenty of other data straight from my hard drive and from the hard drives of my collaborators. Also, I try to support the outrageous claim on the Welcome screen of the blog; I believe everyone with the surnames FOLKERTH or FULKERTH descends from Christopher FOLKERTH, who in 1754 signed his name to the oaths as Christofel VOLCKERTH.
Check it out.
